Ghazal Poem: More than the stars

She looks up into the night sky and sees no more than the stars,
Her contemplation and thoughts were more than the stars.

His voice encompassed her mind with cherished memories,
The cherished memories were precious, even more than the stars.

She consciously sensed his presence in her room,
She missed him more than the stars.

Her heart was like a glass shattering into pieces,
She wanted to snatch those memories back, even more than the stars.

Remembering what he said to her stabbed her painfully into her chest,
She would want to efface those lies more than the stars.

She felt foolish for believing all those lies,
That pursued her to think he was so much more than the stars.

Her grief consumed her,
Her lamentation was more than the stars.

The thoughts of him were inscribed into her mind,
She wanted him back more than the stars.

Tears started trickling down her cheeks,
Her tears were even more than the stars.

She realized he would always remain in her heart,
This is how much she loved him, more than the stars.
